Felt Strawberries

I knew strawberries had to be one of my first felt creations. They are one of my daughter's favorite foods...and mine too!

1. Cut out two "u" shaped pieces of red felt. Mine were about 2" long and 1 and 1/2" wide.

2. For the "seeds" I just stitched each piece with white embroidery floss. You could paint them on with puff paint, or draw them on with a black marker if you wanted black seeds. If you stitch them on, it's much easier to do it before you sew the felt pieces together.

3. With right sides facing, sew your felt pieces together. You could do this by hand, but since I wanted to make a few strawberries, I thought it would go faster on the machine.

4. Flip right side out and stuff.

5. Take some green embroidery thread and sew a loose stitch around the opening of your strawberry. You want to be able to tighten.

6. Pull your stitch tight and run a few more stitches across the opening to secure it closed. Meanwhile, cut out a "stem" piece for your strawberry out of matching green felt.

7. With your embroidery floss still attached to the strawberry, thread your "stem" piece onto the needle.

8. Come up through the top green piece and back down close to where you came up from. This time go through the green piece and through the middle of the strawberry until your needle comes out the bottom center.

9. Pull tight on the floss to make your stem pucker in.

10. Secure the bottom with a knot in the center.

11. To hide your tale, put your needle back into where it came out, and push it through the side of the strawberry. Cut the thread, and knead the strawberry so the floss goes back in. This way you won't see a tale at the bottom.

And that's it!

I have already made quite a few felt food creations and my daughter loves them all:)

Also, don't forget to leave a comment about on my scrapbooking flower clips post for a chance to win two of them! The giveaway ends Sunday!
