Felt Flower Bobby Pins
I recently found this tutorial for these felt flowers and decided I needed some of my own! I whipped up some this week after my daughter went to bed and now we have new clips that we can share:)

Fabric Summer Wreath
OK...so this isn't really just a summer wreath seeing as how it's been hanging on my door since January. I haven't taken the time to take a final photo of it within the last 5 months. My bad.
I originally found this wreath over at Here's Looking at Me, Kid and I fell in love with everything about it. It had me at stripes and flowers. So, after reading the tutorial here, I decided to make my own version.
Materials:
straw wreath (bound in plastic)
old T-shirt (or fabric of your choice)
hot glue gun
knife (for cutting the wreath)
felt for flowers
I found this T-shirt at my local thrift store for $1 and the wreath also for $2. You can also find these wreathes in all different sizes at the craft store and they are priced reasonably.
I started by cutting the sleeves off my shirt (at the shoulder seam) and then cutting my wreath in one spot so that I could slip the sleeves onto it.
I slipped one sleeve on the wreath in one direction, and the other sleeve in the other direction.
I hot glued them where they met up. I decided that where I had cut the wreath would be where my flowers would end up so I made sure to match up my stripes at the very top (where I would hang it) so that from a distance the seam would not be noticeable. The other seam at the bottom is where my flowers would be...so I didn't worry about that part looking too perfect.
Next, I cut out some flowers out of felt and used regular nails to press them into the wreath. I could have glue them...but I wasn't sure what kind of arrangement I wanted, and using the nails meant I could take them on or off until I got the look I wanted.
Finally, I covered the centers of my larger white flowers with small circles of felt...but I left the nails bare on the red flowers. I liked the industrial look at the time and I may change them out for yellow sewing pins some day. The yellow flowers are small circles of felt that I folded in half once and then once again and glued into clusters.
To hang the wreath, I took an old paperclip and unfolded it a bit so that I could push the two ends into the straw wreath and have a makeshift hook out of it.
So, I am finally sharing this wreath about 5 months after I made it! It's been living on our front door for about a month and it makes me so happy every time I pull into our driveway:)

Ruffle Fleece Pillow
So, I have learned recently that I might be addicted to fleece ruffles. They are so easy and comfy...I love them!
I made two throw pillows for the couch last night (I know...it was exhausting) and this was my smaller accent one. I found this mustard yellow fleece remnant at Joann's for $1...so how could I not buy it?
Materials:
fleece (I think my remnant was 1/2 yard for a 14" pillow)
matching thread
1. Cut out your panel pieces for your pillow 1/2" bigger than you want the finished size to be. My pieces were 14 and 1/2".
(Sorry for the upcoming photos. I live in a cave...plus I always craft at night...plus our apartment is 800 sq ft...it's a terrible combination!)
2. For your ruffle strips, cut strips the width you want (mine were 2") and double the length of the pillow (mine were about 30").
3. Mark the middle of panel piece and pin that mark at the top and bottom (this helps keep the ruffle straight as you sew).
4. Ruffle the strip down the middle of the panel.
(You can see how I ruffle on the machine HERE.)
Also, sew the ends of the ruffle strip down to make it easier to sew to the back panel later.
5. Repeat with the other two strips on either side of your middle strip.
6. With right sides of your front and back panel facing, sew around the edge with a 1/2" seam...leaving an opening to flip it right side out..
7. Stuff and sew the opening closed.
Pretty easy right? I love material that doesn't need the edges finished...makes my lazy approach to sewing just that much easier!
This pillow cost me $1.00 since I already had the thread and the stuffing was from an old pillow of my couch. I can't wait to show you my other pillows soon!

Felt Flower Embellishments
We promised our daughter that we would go up north and play in the snow this year. We have absolutely no appropriate clothing for such weather...so when I came across this hat and glove set at Joann the other day...I had to snatch it up for our cold day of fun! They were on sale for $2 each...but they looked a little plain.
I used this tutorial from Tatertots and Jello for easy felt flowers.
Materials:
9x12 piece of felt (for one large flower)
hot glue gun
1. Cut out six "flower" shapes from your felt...along with a round circle to glue all your petals to.
2. Put a dab of hot glue in the center of your flower and fold in half.
3. Place another dab of hot glue in the middle of the bottom of your half flower and fold in half again.
Here are all six of my petals:
4. Glue five of the petals around the edge of the circle.
6. Now, you can put a bead in the center of the petals...but I chose to glue the last petal in the center, straight up, to make the flower more full.
That's it! Super easy, right? You can also add leaves, like in the original tutorial, but I like it plain like this.
I glued it to my winter hat to jazz it up a bit. My husband liked the hat better before I added the flower...but he just said, "I don't know why I expected you to wear it plain!". Exactly. He knows me well!
Finally, I took a strip of felt and rolled it up to make a little rosette. I glued it to the left "ring finger" of the glove.
I love my new hat and gloves set. I have a hat and gloves set planned for my daughter out of red fleece...so hopefully I can get that done before next week.
Price:
hat/gloves: $4.00
felt: $.29
Total: $4.29

Plastic Party Ring Redo
Have you ever left a birthday party with a bunch of these plastic rings? You always end up digging them out of the seats of your car a month later. I have to admit I have also given these out at parties...but mine were cute Elmo ones:)
Anyways, we got some of these off some cupcakes that my mom had. I was going to throw them away, but the Little Miss is into dressing up lately. So they got a makeover!
For the pink flower I cut out half circles for the petals and two green ones for the leaves. I dabbed some hot glue in the bottom center of each one and pressed it together to look like a pucker in the middle.
I started by gluing the leaves on first:
Then the petals:
I just cut out a circle and glued it into the center of the petals:
Then glued a craft gem in the center. It made the circle ruffle around the edges:
For the "rose", I cut wide strips of red felt and rolled them into tiny tubes, gluing the ends so it would stay.
I glued the tubes around the ring starting at the edges and working my way to the center:
Then I glued three leaves on the sides to cover up my tube ends:
For the "daisy" I just repeated the same process that I did for the pink flower. I also put in another row of white petals in the center.
I rolled up some yellow ribbon into a rosette and glued it to the center:
Finally, for the dark pink flower, I just cut my petals with pointy ends and glued them around the outside:
Then glued a pointy edged flower shape to the inside and glued a craft gem in the center of that:
I guess it's kind of like a dark pink poinsettia:)
And that's it! A free redo and my daughter loves them! But we took the rose ring to the store this morning and we lost it:( So now we are down to three rings. At least they were free!
